I took a look at this video the other day from the link over at Founders. In the video “Pastor” Dale made the comment that he wanted to see a new generation of Christians that were zealous to worship God. Let me ask you, If we take his approach to getting the younger generations interested and excited about worship, what type of worshippers are we going to have fifteen years from now? If kids get locked into this “style of worship” what are they going to do when they get to the “adult” church? Are Pastors going to have to create X-treme Church just to hold the people’s attention? Maybe a guy preaching while rock climbing or bungy cord jumping. I think this type of “kid’s church” is going to cripple, not help, the next generation of Christians. When these kids grow up they aren’t going to want to hear “open your Bibles to _______ chapter _______ verse _______.” All they are going to want to hear is how extreme a church can be in their worship.
I’m not sure exactly how I feel about the whole “children’s church” in general. I know some Pastors are dogmatic that the children should be in the congregation during the preaching, and I see some merit in this. I also see the merit in having a type of “children’s church,” where children are taught at their level. What are your thoughts on this? How does FBCSJ do “children’s church.”
Also I wanted to thank you for your prayers for our church. The Lord worked mightily as I am sure Marty told you. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store. Please continue to pray for our church as we make this transition. Kevin said that it’s probably going to get worse before it get’s better, and I think he’s probably right.

Bret,
Sorry I just realized I posted this under the wrong article. Usually the comments are at the bottom of the article not the top. Oops.
