My calf-skin Shepherds’ Conference Bible is my favorite preaching Bible. I love the durability of the calf-skin. I love the size of the print. Most of all, I have loved the translation – the New American Standard. I’ve been preaching from the NAS for about 18 years.
But, if I were to win this brand new Calf-skin ESV, from “A Boomer in the Pew,” (I use the ESV in my morning devotions), it may be enough to bring me over to begin preaching from it. We shall see.
Thanks for stopping by the “Boomer in the Pew” blog to register for the new ESV Study Bible. I hope you enjoyed your visit to my blog, as much as I enjoyed my stop by yours!

I am not sure that winning a cool new Bible is a good enough reason to switch what version you preach from. Wouldn't it just confuse all of the people who use the pew Bibles?
Karyn, that is a possibility. But since the ESV is a good literal translation it does read closely to the NAS. It probably wouldn't be too confusing. I actually did teach and preach from the ESV my first six months here in San Jac.
Having said that, I still think it would be VERY difficult for me to switch to preaching and teaching from the NASB. for detailed study of the English Bible it is the one that still mirrors the Geek text best. I'm other words, I still think I would use the NAS in our inductive Bible study classes.
