SBC & Calvinism

Due to a number of misunderstandings, I wonder how many said they were “four-point” Calvinists. 10 percent of SBC pastors call themselves 5-point Calvinists –... read more

‘All Saints’ Too Political?

Ah, how refreshing to hear of a liberal church coming under the aim of the IRS for political statements in an election year.  You normally hear of such only when the church is conservative. I still remember watching the Democratic National Convention for the ’04 election and seeing Barak Obama’s pastor introducing the candidate, from his church sanctuary, with choir members standing in the background.  Nothing significant ever said about such an endorsement. I didn’t think we’d see a liberal church receive such a reprimand. IRS investigating liberal Calif. church – Yahoo!... read more

The Pope Crossed the Pluralism Line

Oops! The Pope suggested that Islam was founded in violence. He suggested that words like “jihad” and “holy war “are “incompatible with the nature of God.” Then he apologized for such an insult against Islam. Interesting to watch Catholicism bow their need in subservience to the god of religious pluralism. Pope sorry his Islam speech found offensive – Yahoo!... read more

Good to Great Churches

Congregational Singing

Exegetical Insights from “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”

My good friend and fellow church member, Justin Peters, has produced an exquisite exposition of a famed passage of Americana, namely, the old Southern hymn, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”  As a new and ever improving Bible study teacher, and with this depth of exegetical insight, can you imagine what Justin can do with the Bible?
